Attorney Virginia Barrera, Esq.
For over 25 years, Virginia has devoted her life to helping those who feel that they are without rights. She received her law degree from New York University School of Law. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Marist College and graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a B.A. in psychology and received the distinction of being admitted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Currently licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C., Maryland and New York and authorized to practice in the Immigration Courts throughout the fifty states, the focus of her practice is to help those who are escaping violence, discrimination, and persecution in their home countries and/or looking to establish the right to live, work and attend school or be joined with family in the United States. She is passionate and dedicated to helping her clients receive the protection from deportation and the rights they deserve to thrive in the United States.
Virginia has seven children/stepchildren of her own and has mentored, educated and advocated for hundreds of young adults and individuals from various countries and cultural backgrounds.
Virginia has a great insight into navigating the confusing paths to legal immigration status and has been extremely successful in getting clients out of detention, through the immigration court processes and into legal status. She has handled cases to get her clients out of detention as far away as Seattle, Washington and Port Isabel, Texas, as well as being well respected for her tenacity and dedication in advocating for her clients in the local immigration courts of Arlington, Virginia.
She is a dedicated and active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is also a member of the Washington DC Bar Association, the Maryland Bar Association, the New York Bar Association and an associate member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
